Uses"sandwich"polyurethane panels with very low thermal conductivity for excellent insulation.Panels connect via specialized joints often filled with PU foam,creating effective thermal breaks and an airtight seal.The floor requires frost-protection,typically involving a ventilated void and insulation layer.All wall penetrations are sealed and insulated.This is one of the most technically demanding prefab building types.
Insulation thickness is determined by design temperature(0°C to-25°C or lower),typically 100mm to 200mm.Doors must be powered,vertical-lifting cold storage doors with air curtains and heater cables.Structural design considers contraction from temperature stress.Close coordination with refrigeration engineers is needed for plant room space,evaporator points,and piping.
Primarily used in the food industry for long-term storage of fruits,vegetables,meat,seafood,dairy,and ice cream;in pharmaceuticals for storing APIs,formulations,and vaccines;in chemicals for low-temperature storage of specific products;and as core nodes in cold chain logistics networks.
