Very low weight,with densities as low as one-third that of water,significantly reducing structural loads.Closed cellular structure provides excellent thermal insulation.Offers good sound absorption and fire resistance(Class A non-combustible).Exhibits good flowability and self-leveling properties,suitable for filling irregular voids.Can be cast in-situ or pre-cast.
Primarily classified by oven-dry density,e.g.,A04,A05,A06...A16.Strength,thermal conductivity,etc.,are closely related to density;lower density means better insulation but lower strength.Supplied by cubic meter(for cast-in-place)or as blocks/m³(precast).
Mainly used for roof insulation/screeds and underfloor heating insulation in buildings.For backfilling applications:foundation trenches,abandoned pipelines,reducing backfill load on underground roofs.Manufacturing lightweight partition blocks and insulating masonry units.In transportation infrastructure,for backfilling behind bridge abutments on soft ground to prevent differential settlement.Also used for slope filling in geotechnical engineering.
